|Living Naturally Relocates Philadelphia Office|
|May 24, 2006, Philadelphia - Living Naturally moved its Philadelphia office May 1 to a newly constructed Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold pre-certified office building in the Navy Yard Corporate Center to allow for further company growth and development. The move coincides with the establishment of a state-of-the-art data center in the Philadelphia area to support the rapid growth of Living Naturally’s online network.|
While the company’s previous Philadelphia location, a large historic US Naval officer’s home, offered a pleasant environment overlooking the Delaware River, it did not provide an ideal office location.
“Due to our continuing rapid growth, we needed a larger and more dynamic space,” said Living Naturally CEO David Knaggs. “The new building allows us to more than double the current staff size in Philadelphia and ensures comfortable work spaces while making a positive impact on the environment.”
The LEED certification, administered by the U.S. Green Building Council, is the national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable office buildings. During construction of the new building at One Crescent Drive, material and process selection reduced waste and improved efficiency from the very beginning. The site is a re-used urban space that allowed the building to take advantage of existing infrastructure. Over 40% of materials were found locally which reduced transportation emissions. Air pollution was reduced by 40% by using recycled concrete, and over 30% of the total material consisted of recycled content. Ninety-five percent of the total construction waste was recycled.
The green practices do not stop with construction. Energy use is reduced through wind generated energy, sun shades and a reflective white roofing system. One Crescent Drive will use 50% less energy than a typical office building of its size. Sensor faucets and low-flow fixtures will use 30% less water. Initial material selection and a continuing green housekeeping program will maintain a clean air environment. The staff will also recycle basic materials such as paper and plastic.
Abundant natural light will reduce energy consumption as well as provide an engaging environment for employees. Breathtaking views of Center City Philadelphia and the US Navy Ship Reserve also add to employee comfort. The building is also adjacent to a 3.5 acre public park, complete with wireless Internet and a putting green.
One Crescent Drive is simply the beginning for the Navy Yard Corporate Center. Its master plan offers a mix of uses, building upon the 4 million square feet of existing activity and the 6,000 employees already located on site. With up to 12 million square feet of capacity for historic renovations and build-to-suit opportunities for office, research and development, light and heavy industrial, distribution, marina and recreational uses, The Navy Yard is the Philadelphia region’s largest and most dynamic business location.
